The story of Heritage Insurance Solutions began in the 1970’s

Thomas (Tom) Aversa began his insurance career with Bankers Life and Casualty. From those humble beginnings selling life insurance policies door-to-door, he established himself as one of the most knowledgeable life agents in North Carolina.

In 1983, he was joined by his wife, Kay Aversa, as they successfully served all 100 counties in the state, selling life, accident, and health insurance with Colonial Life Insurance Company. That partnership would last over 30 years. In 1989, Tom recruited his brother-in-law Bradford Hodges into the Colonial Life team. They adapted to the changing landscape of the insurance industry and began providing Cafeteria plans to the employees of the North Carolina prison system. Their hard work and dedication paid off through many awards and accolades throughout their careers. Most importantly, they were able to provide for their families and loved ones.

In 2014, Bradford’s son and Thomas’ godson, Mike Mitchell, took up the torch and began his insurance career. After ten successful years as an Account Executive for several boutique agencies, with the help and guidance of “Uncle Tom,” Mike started Heritage Insurance Solutions with the purpose of empowering businesses with tailored insurance solutions that protect their assets, enhance their effectiveness and foster growth.
